World Pandemic Disrupts Spring Piano Service

An Update from Daniel & Pianocare907

I would like to provide a quick update concerning my availability for piano tunings this spring and a ‘Spring Cleaning’ service I will be offering for the rest of this year. But more importantly, I hope and pray that you and your families are healthy, safe and not discouraged during this uncertain time.

The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted normal life and work for most of us, and of course it is not safe or responsible for me to visit clients’ homes to service pianos at this time. While I had to cancel my international travels this spring, the fact that I had planned some time off ended up being quite timely. Following the local mandate for non-essential businesses, I have postponed spring piano service until we enter Phase 2, hopefully late-May, however I still have my prescheduled regular clients in my calendar and I’m looking forward to seeing you and your pianos later this year.

While I cannot come and service your piano in person, I do suddenly find myself with plenty of free time πŸ™‚ and I am happy to address any piano questions or concerns you might have via phone call, text, or email. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of help while we ‘hunker down’.

‘Spring Cleaning’ Piano Service Offered

Rest assured that I have my regular prescheduled clients in my calendar and I will return to normal service as soon as the mandate is lifted. At the next tuning appointment I will provide a complimentary, thorough disinfecting of your piano’s keys.

Also, for the rest of 2020 I am offering my Full-Service (level 1) interior cleaning option at a $60 to $75 discount. That tuning service will come with an additional hour of interior vacuuming, detailed cleaning, and dry lube service. I trust this ‘Spring Cleaning’ offer will be helpful to you when we are able to return to our normal lives.

In the meantime, I am enjoying some ‘socially distanced’ hikes at Kincaid Park but I’m looking forward to the time when we can return to business as usual. Thank you to those of you who are frontline workers helping us all to weather this storm, and to the rest of you: stay home, stay safe and be encouraged! 🎹🎢😊

Choosing the Right Piano

As a former music educator, I understand how crucial it is that a musical instrument not impede a musician’s technical and creative progression. A young student eager to learn piano can lose interest if they quickly outgrow their instrument. Their piano must be mechanically correct, enabling the pianist to advance their playing skills, unhindered by the instrument’s condition or quality of design. Achieving this goal may be as simple as having the piano professionally reconditioned, though sometimes it may require replacing the instrument with a higher quality new or pre-owned piano.

My mission is to assist musicians who desire a piano that will propel their playing skills to greater levels, requiring an instrument capable of excellent musical performance and inspiration.

I am happy to assist my clients by acting as a Selection Consultation Specialist. I start by asking various questions to more fully understand what your piano needs and desires are, then guide you in selecting of an instrument that will be the right investment for you and your family. I can also put you in contact with other clients who may be selling a suitable pre-owned instrument that would match your needs.

Ultimately, my goal is to help my clients select the right piano that will bring them enjoyment for many years, to enable the pianist in the family to achieve greater musical growth and success.

Adventures in 2020, and a new company name this summer

(The travel plans mentioned below have been cancelled/postponed. Up-to-date information can be found on my home page. This COVID-19 pandemic has brought about greater change than anything I was attempting to do this year πŸ˜•. I hope and pray you and your families stay healthy and safe πŸ™πŸ».)

This new year is going to be a big one for me and my piano service and sales company!

After 18 years operating as Southcentral Piano, I am adding an additional name to my piano service company – Pianocare907. While I will retain my existing clients and continue to service pianos in Southcentral Alaska, I will be expanding operations in the Southeast and am moving my home-base to Juneau this summer. This will be a bit of a homecoming for me, I still consider Southeast Alaska home, as I was born in Haines and spent much of my childhood in Haines and Auke Bay (Juneau). The new company name will better reflect this new direction for my business.

But first, I will be venturing further abroad!

My daughter Sarah and I head to Hawaii this January. It will be a retreat of healing for me, as 2019 had been full of challenges, including the end of my 28-year marriage. The warm tropical environment is always so rejuvenating – looking forward to starting the New Year with a time of rest and reflection before setting off on a few new adventures.

In March, I will be traveling to Dublin and Copenhagen to see my younger daughter get married. Sarah has settled in Dublin with her Irish fiancΓ©, and the two are tying the knot in Copenhagen City Hall, March 21st. My clients know that I love to show off pictures of my daughters, son-in-law, and grandson – so you can look forward to some European travel and wedding photos soon.

When I return from Europe, and a quick business trip to Juneau, I will be preparing for another long-haul flight in the spring…this time to New Zealand! I will be volunteering for a couple months with a ministry on the South Island. This will be an exciting adventure for me, as I’ve dreamed about going to New Zealand since I was a child.

With all these big changes and trips planned for 2020, it was important to me to create a space where I could keep my clients updated on my schedule. I truly appreciate the loyalty of my clients, many of whom I’ve been serving for nearly two decades and have become good friends. I hope to assist you for many more years and will be using this blog as a way to keep my clients up-to-date with my travels, so that I can alert you when I will be in your area of Alaska and better plan servicing your piano.

Please follow along, and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
